Travel west from Edmonton towards Jasper on a modern 4-lane Highway 16 for 300 km, arriving at the historic mining and logging town of Hinton, Alberta. Travel north on a 2-lane paved Highway 40 for 40 km. Make sure your camera is loaded for capturing shots of elk, deer and moose on the road!

Turn left at the Rock Lake turn-off, heading west into the mountains on a narrow, winding gravel road for 26.5 km to the Rocky Mountain Escape sign. Cabins are 3 km from sign at the end of the trail. Please note that this 3-km trail is rough, but certainly passable with a regular vehicle most of the year. Rocky Mountain Escape staff will gladly arrange transportation to the cabins during poor road conditions.
